Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District's (UCISD) police chief Joshua Gutierrez is stepping down and a new police chief job posting has been made on their website. Gutierrez, appointed as interim chief in November 2022 and official chief in March 2023, has decided not to renew his contract. This follows the resignation of a UCISD board member, leading to a special meeting on May 22 to discuss filling the vacancy.
