The British Museum has recovered 268 more stolen or lost artifacts, increasing the total to 626. The museum previously identified 1,500 missing or stolen items in a scandal involving former curator Peter Higgs, who allegedly stole over a thousand artifacts over 30 years. The museum has implemented 36 security and governance recommendations and is following new leads for around 100 other objects in Europe and North America.
