Detroit Tigers starter Reese Olson was hit by a line drive and left the game against the Kansas City Royals in the third inning with a right hip contusion. Olson, who had not allowed a home run since September 2023, was struck by a sharp liner from Michael Massey, who had homered in the second inning. Olson had thrown 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
