Dash cam firm Nextbase warns drivers planning early departures for long weekends to avoid working from their cars, as it could result in fines up to £1,000 for breaching the Highway Code. In May 2022, there were 7,900 Fixed Penalty Notices issued for careless driving, including 4,200 for mobile phone use. Nextbase recommends pulling over if drivers need to use their phone, and using a dash cam can be beneficial in proving liability in case of accidents caused by distracted drivers.
