Australia allocates A$12.5m to provide free menstrual products to Indigenous communities over four years, through NACCHO coordination.
Australia's federal budget has allocated A$12.5 million ($12.5m) over four years to provide free menstrual products, including tampons, pads, and other period care products, to Indigenous communities in rural and remote areas. The National Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) will coordinate the initiative, aiming to address unique challenges faced by Indigenous communities in accessing period products, such as limited access and higher costs. The project also seeks to complement culturally targeted and timely menstrual health education in these communities.
