37-year-old man arrested for Ōpōtiki arson, charged with arson, to appear in Whakatāne District Court on 21 May. The arrest follows a report of a break-in at Coastguard Ōpōtiki building and a digger found on fire in an industrial lot near the wharf area. Enquiries into the break-in at the Coastguard building are ongoing.
