44-year-old Karen Vamplew has been jailed for life with a minimum of 32 years for the murder of her disabled mother-in-law, 77-year-old Elizabeth Vamplew, by setting fire to her bed in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The court heard that Vamplew carried out the murder in order to claim her mother-in-law's inheritance money, as she was in significant debt and kept her financial troubles hidden from her family.
