Singapore faces a rising COVID-19 wave.

Singapore faces a new Covid-19 wave with rising cases, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung advises vaccination, especially for seniors. Public hospitals are asked to reduce non-urgent elective surgery cases to protect hospital bed capacity. The Ministry of Health reports a surge in COVID-19 cases, with 25,900 cases in the week of May 5-11, compared to 13,700 cases the previous week. Average daily hospitalisations rose to about 250 from 181 the previous week, with ICU cases remaining low. The new wave is expected to peak in two to four weeks, between mid- and end of June.
