Royal Mint introduces a 50p D-Day 80 coin, designed by David Lawrence and supported by Imperial War Museums.
Royal Mint launches a new 50p coin marking 80 years since the D-Day landings. The coin, designed by David Lawrence with support from Imperial War Museums, features the inscription "D-Day 6 June 1944 Utah Omaha Gold Juno Sword". To commemorate the release, French sand artist Jehan-Benjamin Tarain recreated the D-Day 80 coin design on Gold beach, where Allied troops landed in 1944.
