Housing Minister Chris Bishop responds to a critical report on Kāinga Ora, a large Crown entity responsible for NZ's public housing. The report, led by former Prime Minister Bill English, found Kāinga Ora to be "not financially viable without significant savings as well as funding and financing changes" and that the agency had limited focus on value for money and transparency. The government is now planning to make immediate changes, including appointing a new chair and refreshing the board, to address the issues raised in the review.
