Shackleton's Hope Point memorial cross to be displayed at Discovery Point museum in Dundee.
The wooden cross from Shackleton's Hope Point memorial is set to be displayed at Discovery Point museum in Dundee, where RRS Discovery, which first carried Shackleton to Antarctica, is kept. Shackleton, born in 1874 and died in 1922, was a renowned explorer who erected a memorial at Hope Point near his final resting place in Grytviken Cemetery. The Hope Cross was built at a nearby whaling station and serves as a memorial cairn and cross for the explorer.
