Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari looks to North Dakota's oil industry, specifically the Bakken region, for insight into regional economy. Kashkari spoke at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck. In healthy economies, unemployment is low and inflation is around 2%. If these factors are off-balance, the Federal Reserve may intervene to manage the U.S. economy.
