5,000 cultural relics transferred to Afghanistan's National Museum since August 2021; 2,000 repaired, 1,500 smuggling attempts prevented.

5,000 pieces of cultural relics have been transferred to Afghanistan's National Museum since the August 2021 caretaker government takeover, reports Acting Minister of Cultural and Information Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa. Of these, 2,000 have been repaired and 1,500 smuggling attempts prevented. The ministry states that over 60,000 ancient artifacts from various eras are in their possession.
