Egypt's urban inflation saw a significant slowdown in April 2024, dropping to 32.5% from 33.3% in March, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). The decrease is attributed to the reversal of rising food inflation trends since 2021 and a favourable base effect. In April, annual food inflation reached 40.5%, its lowest rate since December 2022, while annual non-food inflation rose to 27.3%.
