This month, there have been 6 confirmed tornadoes in Pennsylvania and 9 in NWS Pittsburgh's coverage area, which includes parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Meteorologist Fred McMullen attributes the increased number of tornadoes to the lack of cold air this winter.
