18th May marks World AIDS Vaccine Day.

World AIDS Vaccine Day, or HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, marks the importance of HIV vaccine research on May 18th annually. Initiated by the US NIAID in 1998, it commemorates former President Clinton's 1997 speech on the urgency of an HIV vaccine. It serves to honor AIDS victims, address myths, and advocate for universal health coverage for the 36.7M people living with HIV, as part of the WHO's 2024 World AIDS Day campaign theme "Remember and Commit."
