Osun state political figures including former PDP National Deputy Chairman Shuaib Oyedokun and former governorship aspirant Dotun Babayemi have left the ruling PDP and joined the opposition APC. They were received by APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, and former governor Gboyega Oyetola. The defectors cited the need for a party with a structural plan for the masses and left the PDP, saying that the ideals of the founding fathers of the party had been "contaminated".
