Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang of the Chinese Nationalist Party urges President-elect William Lai to reaffirm Taiping Island (Itu Aba Island) as part of Taiwan's territory in his inaugural address. Chiang made the call during a visit to the island with eight other KMT legislators and a Taiwan People's Party lawmaker. The Taiwan-controlled island is also claimed by China, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
