Researchers at the Australian National University have developed an AI tool, DEPLOY, that can classify brain tumors within hours, significantly reducing diagnosis time from weeks. Trained using histopathology images from about 4,000 patients, DEPLOY demonstrated "unprecedented" accuracy in classifying brain tumor subtypes. The AI tool can predict DNA methylation, the gold standard for detection, with 95% accuracy and has the potential to be used for other cancer types.
