15-year-old resident of Ellipsis Iowa treatment center kills staff member, leading to safety measure enhancements.
An Iowa juvenile treatment center, Ellipsis Iowa, had nearly 1,000 police visits in the past three years, including 72 reported assaults and 676 for runaways. Tragically, a staff member, Kathleen Galloway-Menke, was killed by a 15-year-old resident with a history of violence. The 15-year-old will be criminally charged for the attack, and Ellipsis Iowa is now working with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services to add additional safety and security measures to its facilities.
