17-year-old Oakland student Helms Ategeka, from Head-Royce School, has been accepted into 122 colleges and received $5.3 million in collective scholarships. Ategeka attributes his success to nearly 10 extracurricular activities, including choir, theater, and creating his own club, as well as a 3.9 GPA. He moved to the US from Uganda five years ago and believes this opportunity is rare for people where he comes from.
