A 60-year-old man died in a workplace accident on the N55 road in Longford on May 16th. The father of three was struck by a works vehicle while working on road resurfacing at a closed section of the Athlone Road near a local filling station. Emergency services were unable to save him and the area was preserved for a technical examination. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and local coroner have been informed of the incident.
