Tripura forms state-level committee to process Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 applications.
Tripura government has formed a six-member state-level empowered committee, headed by the Director Census Operations, to grant citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. The act allows Indian nationality to persecuted Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi, and Christian migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan who entered India before December 31, 2014. Each District Magistrate has been asked to establish district-level empowered committees to process applications under the CAA.
