9th Circuit Court allows non-violent felons and some illegal migrants to own firearms after prison sentences.

In two recent rulings, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has allowed non-violent felons and some illegal migrants to own firearms if they have completed their prison sentences. A case from California involving a man with five prior non-violent state criminal convictions led to the ruling, which cited the 2022 Supreme Court decision as a reason for permitting such possessors. However, a dissenting judge argued that the Supreme Court reiterated that the Second Amendment protects law-abiding citizens, not non-violent offenders.
