Tauranga developer warns Mount Maunganui building height increase may not create affordable homes due to land and construction costs.
Tauranga developer Peter Cooney of Classic Group raises concern that increased building heights in Mount Maunganui won't create affordable homes due to high land costs and New Zealand's high construction costs. The Tauranga City Council will discuss the plan change on May 20th. Meanwhile, Queenstown's Waipuna Rise development has strong demand for its 42 mixed-style apartments and 10 terraced homes, outperforming the rest of the country in residential property sales, as the region needs 17,000 new homes by 2023.
