The Supreme Court of India issued a notice to the Centre, RBI, and other entities on a plea seeking an alternate digital KYC process for acid attack survivors and individuals with permanent eye damage. The court termed the issue as important and will hear the matter in July. The plea, filed by nine acid attack survivors, including activist Pragya Prasun, urges the respondent authorities to frame appropriate guidelines for an alternative method to conduct the Digital KYC/e-KYC process for survivors with eye disfigurement or burns.
