Senegal's Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has raised the possibility of closing French military bases in the West African country, questioning their impact on national sovereignty and strategic autonomy. Sonko, a firebrand politician, made the comments during a speech that also addressed the CFA franc currency, oil and gas deals, and LGBTQ rights. France has about 350 troops stationed in Senegal.
