2025 onwards, Turkey's DITIB plans to annually train 75 Turkish Islamic theology graduates in Germany for German mosques, replacing 1,000 Diyanet preachers with better German skills.
Starting from 2025, Turkey's Turkish-Islamic Union of the Institute for Religion (DITIB) will annually train 75 Turkish Islamic theology graduates in Germany. The goal is to gradually replace the over 1,000 preachers currently working for the Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), who typically have limited German skills and knowledge. The new imams will receive intensive German and integration courses before working in German DITIB mosques for at least 10 years. The German government and Turkey agreed on this initiative in December.
