Offaly County Council granted planning permission for a new €150 million hospital in Tullamore, part of the Wellwood Healthcare Campus. The 126-bed facility, including 56 inpatient beds and 70 day beds, is set to carry out 1300 procedures daily, potentially reducing waiting lists and addressing bed shortages throughout the health system. The construction phase is expected to employ up to 200 people, with 300 permanent staff to be employed upon completion.
