Nebraska Secretary of State removes repeal of law using public funds for private school tuition from November ballot.
Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen has removed a measure to repeal a now-defunct law that would use public money for private school tuition from the November ballot. The repealed law, which passed last year, would have allowed corporations and individuals to divert millions of dollars in state income taxes they owed to nonprofit organizations that would award private school tuition scholarships. The Nebraska Legislature has since replaced this law with one that directly funds private school tuition scholarships from state coffers.
