20mph speed limits in Wales found to have minimal impact on air quality, according to a Welsh government study.

A study commissioned by the Welsh government has found that Wales' 20mph speed limits have had little impact on air quality. Sensors deployed in four locations detected little difference in particulate matter, and in some cases, nitrogen dioxide levels were higher inside the 20mph zones than outside them. The findings cast doubt on the argument that lower speed limits improve air quality.
