Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig suspended the board of the New England Weeds Authority, appointing an interim administrator after reports of financial mismanagement and governance issues. The authority, which controls invasive weeds in the New England region, is funded by Armidale Regional, Walcha, Uralla Shire, and Glen Innes Severn councils. The administrator, local government expert John Rayner, will investigate financial and operational concerns and report back to Minister Hoenig.
