Health professionals are implementing climate-focused initiatives, from plant-based hospital menus to fewer surgical gloves and syringes, to reduce waste and pollutants. Dr. Wendy Levinson, chair of eco-advocacy group Choosing Wisely Canada, says physicians are adapting their practices to lower the environmental impact of healthcare, including scaling back on lab tests and meeting virtually. Similar initiatives, such as Vancouver General Hospital's "planetary health" food pilot, are also underway.
