A gas main hit by fiber optic cable installers on Newberry Road (State Road 26) in Gainesville has caused I-75 ramps to close and all but one lane of the state road to be shut down. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reported the incident, which occurred just east of Northwest 75th Street. The road will remain closed until the work is repaired, according to Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) officials.
