Cape Cod Hospital has agreed to pay $24.3M to resolve allegations that it did not follow Medicare cardiac procedure rules, specifically for transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR). The hospital submitted false claims to Medicare, violating the False Claims Act, between November 2015 and December 2022. The U.S. Attorney's office found that Cape Cod Hospital failed to perform patient evaluations for TAVR procedures in compliance with Medicare reimbursement requirements.
