The Beach Boys released iconic "Pet Sounds" album in 1966.

On May 16, 1966, The Beach Boys released their iconic 11th album, Pet Sounds, produced by Brian Wilson. Often considered one of the best albums of all time, it featured songs like "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "God Only Knows," and "Sloop John B." Recorded a year after Wilson quit touring, the album reached #10 on the Billboard chart, was certified Platinum, and in 2004 was included in the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry. In June, a new mix of the album in Dolby Atmos was released, produced by Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin.
