Australia plans to invest $65m in a desalination project for South Australia, as part of its "Future Made in Australia" initiative. The Northern Water Supply project aims to deliver desalinated water to support renewable industries and the development of critical mineral resources in the region. The seawater desalination plant, to be built at Cape Hardy, will have a pipeline of around 600 km to the Far North of South Australia. The project is expected to unlock $5bn in investment, lift South Australia's GDP by $150bn by 2053 and create around 4,200 jobs annually in resources, renewables, and net-zero transformation.
