An Arizona woman, Christina Chapman, is charged by federal prosecutors for helping North Korean IT workers pose as US citizens, secure jobs in major US companies and generate nearly $7mn for North Korea.
The scheme compromised the identities of 60 Americans and involved 300 US companies including a national TV network, a Silicon Valley tech firm and a renowned American carmaker.
The overseas IT workers also attempted to gain employment at two US government agencies but were thwarted.
