WSU research links Eleaophora schneideri parasitic worm in moose to potential population decline.

Parasitic worm, Eleaophora schneideri (arterial worm), may contribute to moose population decline in some North American regions, according to Washington State University research. The worm was found in 10 of 20 adult moose in southern Idaho, with 9 of these having adult worms in major arteries and microfilariae scattered in their brains. The impact of the worm on moose populations has likely been underestimated.
