New Hampshire judge upholds $38m verdict in landmark abuse trial at youth detention center.

A New Hampshire judge has refused to discard a $38 million verdict in a landmark trial involving abuse allegations at the state's youth detention center. David Meehan, the plaintiff, claimed he was repeatedly raped, beaten, and held in solitary confinement while incarcerated at the Youth Development Center in the 1990s. The judge's decision comes after the attorney general's office requested the verdict be nullified and issued a judgment in their favor. Since Meehan's lawsuit, 11 former state workers have been arrested and over 1,100 former residents have filed lawsuits alleging abuse spanning six decades.
