A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer died while fighting a fire on a marine vessel anchored in Singapore waters on May 16. SCDF was alerted to the fire at 12:15 am, and firefighters from West Coast Marine Fire Station boarded the vessel to combat the blaze. A regular officer, serving as a rota commander, was found at the foot of a 4-meter-high staircase in the engine room after the firefighting operation. The officer later succumbed to his injuries.
