Indian software firm Zoho plans to invest $700 million in chipmaking, seeking incentives from the federal government to manufacture compound semiconductors, made from alternatives to the more commonly-used silicon. The move aligns with India's business strategy to boost its semiconductor industry and compete with countries like Taiwan. Zoho is also considering a tech partner to help set up the operation and is under review by the panel driving India's chip initiatives at the IT ministry.
