First Minister John Swinney extends ScotRail peak fare pilot until September, reducing Glasgow-Edinburgh rush-hour fares by almost half.
First Minister John Swinney has announced the extension of a pilot scheme scrapping peak ScotRail fares for an additional three months until September. The scheme, which initially began in October 2023, was set to end in June. The price cut sees rush-hour commutes between Glasgow and Edinburgh slashed by almost half, reducing the cost from £28.90 to £14.90. The extension of the pilot aims to make public transport more affordable and encourage more people to use the train as an alternative to driving.
