Diageo, owner of the Guinness brand, plans to invest €100m in decarbonising its historic St. James's Gate brewery in Dublin, aiming to make it one of the most efficient breweries globally by 2030. The investment will phase out the use of fossil fuels, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 90%, and improve water efficiency, with a projected 30% reduction in water used to brew Guinness. Renewable energy strategies include heat pumps powered by the grid and biogas generated from a new water recovery facility.
