A Christchurch man and his company face charges for allegedly operating the largest illegal lottery in NZ history, generating over $11m via online platforms with prizes including cars, boats, and a house. Under the Gambling Act 2003, prizes over $5k require a class 3 gambling license. Police have charged the defendants with illegal gambling, promotion, and pecuniary gain.
