The film follows Lily Bloom (Lively), a woman overcoming a traumatic childhood who opens a business in Boston, meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni), and faces abusive tendencies in their relationship as her past love Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) re-enters her life.
