Australian ACCC investigates Louis Dreyfus Co.'s acquisition of Namoi Cotton Ltd for potential competition reduction in cotton services.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is concerned that Louis Dreyfus Co.'s proposed acquisition of Namoi Cotton Ltd, Australia's largest cotton ginning company, could reduce competition in cotton ginning services, cotton lint classing services, and the marketing of cotton lint and seed. The ACCC is investigating whether the acquisition may substantially lessen competition, potentially leading to higher prices or reduced service levels for ginning services. The regulator has invited submissions from stakeholders by May 30.
