The family of TJ O'Herlihy, who drowned in a work accident at Limerick's Thomond Bridge in 2015, has reached a €1.1m settlement in a High Court action. O'Herlihy and his colleagues were working on the bridge when a steel cage carrying them fell into the River Shannon, leading to his tragic drowning. Two companies were fined €225,000 in 2022 for breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act in relation to the incident.
