Wholesale sales excluding petroleum in Canada fell 1.1% in March, primarily due to decreases in motor vehicle, miscellaneous, and motor vehicle industry subsectors.

Wholesale sales in Canada, excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and oilseed and grain, fell by 1.1% in March, reaching $81.4 billion, according to Statistics Canada. This decline was mainly attributed to sales dropping in three of the seven subsectors: motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories, which saw a 5.8% decrease; miscellaneous, with a 5% decrease; and motor vehicle industry group, which fell by 7%. However, the machinery, equipment and supplies subsector experienced a 1.6% increase to $17.9 billion.
