A teacher in British Columbia, Brian John Carmichael, has been reprimanded for professional misconduct involving comments that threatened the emotional safety of students. The incidents occurred in his Grade 7, 8, and 9 math class in January 2023, including threatening to shoot students if they didn't perform well on a test. Commissioner for Teacher Regulation, Ana Mohammed, has ordered Carmichael to complete a course on creating a positive learning environment by August 31, or risk having his teaching certificate suspended.
